Terms
These terms cover buying and using the signed Otto app. I kept them short. If anything here is unclear, email me at jalenedusei@gmail.com.
Who sells Otto
I'm Jalen Edusei, and I make Otto. Polar (polar.sh) is the merchant of record for purchases on this site: Polar sells you the license, takes the payment, sends the receipt and collects sales tax and VAT. Polar's terms also apply to the payment.
What you get
A license for the signed, notarized Otto app on up to 3 Macs that you use, and every 1.x update. Updates come from this site and install through the app. The signed app keeps sending messages only while Polar keeps confirming your license, as License checks below explains.
The trial
The download is a 14-day trial with every feature, and you don't need a card. When it ends, sending a message needs a license. Settings, Recents and demo mode keep working, and nothing on your Mac is deleted.
The source code
Otto's source code is free under the MIT License, and you can build it yourself at no cost. These terms cover the signed app and your license key. They don't change the MIT License.
What Otto needs from you
Otto uses the Claude API with your own Anthropic API key, and Anthropic bills that usage to your account under its terms. I don't sell, resell or route Claude usage. Otto needs macOS 14 or later.
License checks
While Otto runs, it checks your license with Polar in the background at most once a day. A check that can't reach Polar changes nothing at first. After 30 days without a successful check, Settings shows the date sending will pause. After 44 days, sending a message waits until a check succeeds, and Check Now in Settings, License starts one. Each successful check restarts the count.
If Polar answers that it no longer accepts the license, for example after a refund, the app waits for the same answer at least 20 hours later, then removes the license from that Mac. Either way, the signed app would stop sending messages if Polar or my Polar account closed. Settings, Recents and demo mode keep working, and a build from the MIT source has no license check. The privacy policy lists exactly what each check sends.
Moving to another Mac
Deactivate Otto on the old Mac in Settings, License, to free its seat, or remove that Mac in your Polar customer portal.
Refunds
You can get a full refund within 30 days. The refund policy has the details.
Your key
Your key is for you. Please don't sell it, post it, or use one key on more than 3 Macs.
No warranty
I test every release, but Otto is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. Claude's answers can be wrong, so check anything important. To the extent the law allows, my total liability for anything related to Otto is limited to what you paid for your license.
Changes
If I change these terms, I'll update the date at the top. A purchase made before the change stays under the terms that applied when you bought.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Georgia, United States, except where the consumer law of the country you live in gives you more rights.
